In Plain View challenges the conventional Accessory Dwelling Unit model. Commissioned by a client who needs a retreat-like space for their business as well as a place to escape to, the space accommodates a multitude of uses. The ADU can be divided through the sliding of panels to either open the space for one use, or close off for up to 3 separate uses simultaneously.

The ADU reaches east into Tecolote Canyon, taking advantage of 180 degree views of the canyon and Mission Bay.

The main house design includes a new second floor workshop and office tower and expansion of a primary suite. The design of the main house helps transition the bungalow style of the front with the progressive design of the ADU.
