On Rural Yard explores the potential of Cross Laminated Timber in designing adaptive, accessible spaces for wheelchair users. The CLT panels are exposed, showcasing the home’s natural materials as both practical and expressive elements. The design integrates features that empower wheelchair users like the central multifunctional core which consolidates essential systems allowing for a more open floorplan. The experimental form promotes a vision of architecture that integrates sustainability, accessibility, and freedom of exploration for all, asking how design can move beyond compliance to actively create spaces that empower individuals with disabilities.
